sometimes the sweetest part of a day is finding an outdoor patch with just the right amount of sunshine pouring in through the (still green) trees.
oook. as long as there are days like this, i can wait a little longer for chilly weather.. except i wasted no time in scooping up the moccasins from that post where all i wanted to do was snuggle up with tea, cookies and a fox pillow. oops.
that’s all for now. just wanted to share some sunshine before the fog rolls back in. have a lovely day, wherever you are!

dreaming of chilly weather, if only to have a reason for indulging in these fall and winter-friendly delights…
an oversized cashmere sweater that’s cute with leggings, boots, or last night’s pajamas…
cable knit socks, because you’ve been wearing sport socks under your boots and you’ve been told it’s weird.
mini (and deliverable!) black and white cookies for snacking, so you don’t have to steal them from the dessert table at your cousin’s wedding.
a childlike critter hat, because at $9.95 you can afford an “indoor” hat (if you’re not sure about wearing it out)!
a mug with a wise friend inside, so you don’t have to sip alone.
moccasins, because they were cool when you were a kid and they’ve made a comeback.
a sleeping fox pillow, for a bit of wilderness indoors.
and a striped throw, because your roomie/boyfriend wouldn’t let you get the striped sheets. humph.
anyway… what’s your favorite creature comfort this time of year? 🙂

i’m pret-ty sure i could wear this outfit every day until next spring…
waffle knit sweater, isabel marant. sherpa-lined parka, marc new york. almanac boots, madewell. thigh high wool socks, hansel from basel. matte lip pencil in ‘dragon girl’, nars. leather skirt, oasis.
what’s on your must-have list for fall? fantasy items, realistic substitutions.. i’d love to hear both!

..keeps the doctor away, unless it’s chopped and baked into an apple and cinnamon-studded muffin. bad lisanne. very good recipe.
these apple cinnamon crumble muffins may not be health food, but they’re great for the unexpectedly sunny fall mornings we’ve been having around here. plus, i used whole wheat flour and almond milk, so how bad can they be? assuming there are any left, i’ll be sending them home with tomorrow night’s dinner guests… a preventative measure, if you will. i simply cannot be trusted around anything with a cinnamon sugar crumb topping.
meet bruce. according to his papers he’s a jumbo dog from china, but i’m willing to bet one of his parents was a bernese.
the boyfriend and i were at target returning a few things, and this floofy fellow caught my eye. basically living in an apartment that doesn’t allow dogs is slowly turning me into a sad and grouchy person, so i couldn’t help myself. we made a deal. boyfriend said if the dog was still there when we were done, i could have him, so naturally i knelt down, told him to “stay,” and what do you know? he was there when we came back.
in addition to “stay,” he also knows “quiet” and doesn’t shed at all! but the shoes… oh, those are going to be a problem.
better make that sad, grouchy and a little bit crazy.
anyway… muffins! go make them. they’ve been known to undo all the crazy.

my freelance writing gig is ending this week (cue major sad face) so between the frantic google searching and resume-prettifying, i’m trying to keep my head up and focus on happy little things.
oookay, i sort of lied. i really just wanted an excuse to post pretty pictures. in all honesty i’m about to enter freak-out mode. playing with the camera sort of keeps me sane, and come monday morning when i don’t plunk myself into an office chair, i can take it on walks around the neighborhood and we’ll keep each other company.
do i need a dog or what.
anyway. happy things! like…
wearable animals (and already-chipped DIY manicures):
fall outfit inspiration…
questionable stuffed toys…
and anything with sprinkles.
rainbow sprinkles = instant happy. it’s a fact. i always, always have them on hand. sometimes i sprinkle them on my oatmeal.
i’m totally kidding. i have thought about it though.
